Platinum was the brainchild of music instructor and talented pianist Lloyd who finally took his thoughts and turned them into reality when in 2008 he gathered together talented musicians whom he had played alongside in various bands and formed his own band. The line up was settled throughout 2008 and 2009 however, following a change of direction by its lead singer at the start of 2010, Platinum recruited the skills and experience of the charismatic Alan Crockett as its new ‘front man’. Alan has brought the band to previously unimaginable levels of performance and the potential that the band has shown has now come to be realized.

Platinum have played at many of Northern Ireland’s top venues and have been widely acclaimed by all who have heard their live music. Platinum finished 2009 as the resident band for one of Belfast’s leading hotel groups heading their popular Christmas Party nights. The musicians forming Platinum have accrued some 122 years of experience in performing many varied genres of music to audiences locally and nationally. Which is quite an achievement for a band with an average age of 35.

Platinum comprises 6 members.

Alan, Vocals. Alan has previously been the front man with the acclaimed ‘Backbeat’ band having performed over 300 times and he is still only 24! Alan combines the vibrancy of youth with charisma and delivers an exceptional vocal performance every time.

Lloyd, Keyboard, Saxophone and backing vocals. Lloyd is the founder of Platinum and is responsible for the direction of the band’s musical performance, ensuring that the music sounds exactly as it should, each and every time Platinum perform . All that, and he plays keyboard and saxophone as well.

Ross, Lead Guitar. What can you say about Ross? Words cannot describe the genius that Ross becomes when he has his guitar in his hands. You will not hear better anywhere else. Ross has been awarded the highest accolades from a prestigious London guitar college and when you hear him play you will see why.

Mark, Bass Guitar and backing vocals. Mark’s bass guitar playing is of the highest caliber and when you hear Platinum play you notice the energy that a live bass guitar gives to a performance. Mark has 20 years of experience as a bass guitarist.

Geoff, Kit and backing vocals. Geoff has played in some of Irelands finest bands. His ability to set the correct tempo and maintain consistency is unrivalled. Geoff has 40 years of experience of playing at the highest level.

Harry, Trumpet and Flugelhorn. Harry has played trumpet for 30 years and has played in a variety of bands and performed many different genres of music during that time. Harry has performed in Theatres, Brass bands and swing bands and brings his wealth of experience to Platinum to ensure that the Brass adds that different dimension to Platinum.
